Ban private pet owners from selling their pet's offspring

Closed 41 signatures

What the petition asks

The Government should bring in a law to stop pet owners from selling their pet's offspring for profit. Pets are not machines and it's not fair to keep allowing them to get pregnant to sell their babies for huge profits.
People running a business that breeds and sells dogs or that breed 5 or more litters in a year and sell any of the puppies require a licence, but this is already too generous, and there are no equivalent arrangements for cats at all.

Many dog and cat owners aren't spaying or neutering their pets, resulting in females constantly falling pregnant, and owners then sell the offspring for huge amounts of money. It's wrong, it's profiteering, and we believe it causes unnecessary suffering to the mum.
