What the petition asks
We demand that young people under 25 receive the same standard allowance of Universal Credit we currently receive after the Covid-19 special measures stop.
This means standard allowance will remain:
- £342.72 pcm for single people under 25
- £488.59 for both people in a couple under 25

Living on Universal Credit allowance means living on a really tight budget. Having the extra £90.95 more per month gives us a little bit more flexibility, as the previous allowance only just allows for rent and food.
For example, we would be able to save money for necessary things like oven or fridges or washing machines if they need replacing.
We will be able to save a little bit of money to pay the rent arrears owed the council (if living in supported housing or a hostel, etc...).
