Make Colonialism a mandatory part of the Education Curriculum
Rejected

What the petition asks
The history of the British Empire and suffering caused by colonialism is only covered by 1 OPTIONAL module in the National Curriculum out of 9, and only at KS3. It's impact on migration policies, and civil rights should be an integral part of a child’s education in navigating modern Britain.
Education is one of the biggest tools against oppression and intolerance. Glorifying and suppressing the atrocities of the British Empire created xenophobia and racism that is rampant in our society. Teaching the hardships of migrants and slaves, as well as the looting of other cultures would stop this cycle of hatred.
