Allow MPs that are unable to attend parliament to vote remotely

Rejected 12 signatures

What the petition asks

The government should allow MPs that are unable to attend Parliament in person to vote remotely. This would allow all elected Members to have their constituencies adequately represented.
Barring MPs from voting remotely would be both undemocratic and immoral considering current circumstances. Forcing MPs to be present in Parliament at the current time will discriminate against those who are in at-risk groups, have childcare responsibilities and whose constituencies are far from London. Allowing MPs to vote remotely will allow the house to be an effective check on the government. Barring MPs from voting remotely would damage its capability to hold the government to account.
