What the petition asks
Alcoholism and addiction are the symptoms of an underlying mental health issue. Options for sufferers of this disease is expensive private rehabilitation clinics or long waiting lists with charities. Addiction and mental health services lack the joined up approach and funding needed.
This strategy must look to:
- recognise addiction as a common symptom of underlying mental health issues;
- increase funding for dedicated NHS mental health services for people with addictions;
- fund NHS rehabilitation clinics.
