What the petition asks
Make it obligatory that all 650 MPs are present in debate of a petition that has achieved 1,000,000 or more signatures.
There are 650 MPs and around 65,000,000 people in the UK. This means that each MP is responsible on average for around 100,000 people. If a petition gets 1,000,000 or more signatures, it is in evidence that at least 10 MPs have failed to carry out their duties correctly.
Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
We understand that you want the Government or House of Commons to change how petitions that receive a certain number of signatures are treated, but it is up to individual MPs, not the Government or House of Commons, to decide which debates to attend.
