What the petition asks
We want to ensure that any person who is affiliated or directly involved with any discrimination of people of colour and/or participated or financially or personally gained from Slave Trading is removed from our British bank notes (£5-£50).
In light of protests demonstrating disapproval of the erection of statues (or otherwise), which celebrate people in positions of power who have been part of the discrimination of people of colour or who are affiliated with personal or economic gain due to Slave Trading, or the segregation and unfair treatment of people of colour, to be blocked and/or removed from appearing on our Bank Notes (£5-£50).
Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
Bank notes are the responsibility of the Bank of England, which is independent of the Government and Parliament.
