Open a National Museum dedicated to British BAME history

Closed 41 signatures

What the petition asks

To continue the national fight against racism in the United Kingdom it is essential the government take steps to ensure that we have an institution where our citizens can be educated about our shared history and the ongoing negative effects of colonization and slavery on the BAME community.
A review of statues and monuments dedicated to prominent figures in the slave trade and the subjugation of BAME individuals is currently under way. Many of these statues are likely to be removed from public view for the foreseeable future. It is imperative that the relics of this era be collected, cataloged and presented to the public as a collective learning experience where we can acknowledge and learn from the crimes these figures committed against the BAME community.
