Respect the results of the Gender Recognition Act consultation

Rejected 12 signatures

What the petition asks

The Government must respect the results of the Gender Recognition Act (GRA) consultation. The results showed the public are in favour of improved rights for trans people, which should be acted on. This also sets a dangerous precedent for the Government dismissing results it does not agree with.
The results from the GRA consultation showed a clear majority were in favour of improved rights for trans people; for example making it easier to self-identify rather than requiring the long and invasive process of a medical diagnosis and later approval for a Gender Recognition Certificate. However, it seems the Government plans to dismiss these findings. The Government must respect these results, for progressive but also democratic reasons, and look to improve the rights of trans Britains.
