Make it compulsory to wear a face covering in enclosed public spaces

What the petition asks
Public health bodies including the World Health Organization now recommend that everyone wear a mask or simple cloth face covering in indoor public spaces, including shops, supermarkets & offices. Given that COVID-19 is still in general circulation, the UK govt should make it compulsory to do so.
The UK government has held an ambiguous position for too long on the issue of whether the general public should be made to wear masks in indoor settings. This is fuelling confusion and doubt when public health bodies and medical authorities are now taking a firm stance: wearing face coverings, especially in all indoor public spaces, helps reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19. This is only true however if there are high compliance levels. Make it compulsory rather than merely recommended.
