Stop student loan being calculated using parental income

What the petition asks
The Government should change how student loans are awarded and remove the maintenance loan being awarded based on household income. The maintenance loan awarded should be based on the student’s circumstances, not their household’s income.
As an adult my loan shouldn't be determined by my parents who may or may not support me at university. As I have seen in many cases some those with parents who have a higher income, may not support their child at university. The Government should recognise every student’s situation is unique and every student should receive a loan which is enough money to cover all essentials, irrespective of their household’s income.
