Re-open Gyms and leisure centres
Rejected
10 signatures
What the petition asks
Gyms and leisure centres provide people with a place to go. It isn’t just professional athletes; gyms can be an escape from mental health problems, overcoming fitness and health issues or even just a way of socialising.
How can parliament justify opening bars and clubs, restaurants and cafes but refuse to open the gyms? Why is it parliament is okay with thousands of individuals crowding a beach or not adhering to social distancing whilst protesting yet people that just want to work out, look after themselves and stay in shape are penalised?
Why it was rejected
The UK Government or Parliament was already taking the action it asked for.
Since you started your petition gyms have been allowed to reopen. You can read the Government's announcement about the reopening of gyms here: https://www.gov.uk/government/news/government-announces-gyms-and-pools-to-reopen-safely
