Make advocacy support available to all veterans

Closed 849 signatures

What the petition asks

I would like the government to give all veterans access to an advocate. Too many veterans are suffering in silence. Many do not know what they may be entitled to and many are ashamed to even seek help. Having worked on a trial project I know how effective advocacy can be.
Over the past few years I have worked as a military advocate and helped a number of veterans gain a voice and supported them in getting their needs and entitlements met. From housing, benefits, war pensions, access to health services both physical and mental and to engage with organisations like the DWP and Veterans UK. To many veterans are suffering from a lack of support because they are not adequately supported. As a veteran of 22 years myself I know how the system fails us.
