Pay Slavery Reparations to a Caribbean & African trust fund

Rejected 12 signatures

What the petition asks

In 2015, Britain’s tax payers finally paid off what is equivalent of billions of pounds to former slave owners to compensate them for losing their slaves in 1833; ignoring the impact on the African and Caribbean descendants.
£100 in 1833 is equivalent in purchasing power to about £11,981.51 in 2020, a difference of £11,881.51 over 190 years. African and Caribbean desendents have suffered severely. The Government should compensate the descendants of the injustice the British Empire has caused. We want the equivalent to what the slave owners were paid in to a Africa and Caribbean trust fund for mothers, children, youth with business plans, and improvements plans. This will be set up to better African and Caribbean communities in Britain.
