What the petition asks
Raise Carer’s Allowance in England,Wales & NI to match Scotland. Address the financial hardship faced by many unpaid carers.Every day they take on enormous responsibility caring & should be properly recognised. It's unacceptable that any carer should suffer financially when providing quality care.
Unpaid Careers save Govt £132Bn a year surviving on a pitiful allowance of well under £1.90/ph. They can’t live on £67pw some are Mentally & Physically exhausted spending 35+ hrs a week,24/7 Unable to,or cant take paid employment & about 50% of working age carers in households with no income. It's such a small increase but will make a huge difference, recognizing the invaluable contribution & sacrifices they make providing quality care.Without them full time paid care would have to be provided.
Why it was rejected
It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. Carer's Allowance in Scotland is the same level as in England and Wales.
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do, or you might like to sign these petitions:
Pay Carers an allowance equivalent to a fulltime job at the National Living wage
Double Carers Allowance and pay in addition to other benefits
