Stop changes to the Gender Recognition Act (2004), Protect transgender rights

Rejected 10 signatures

What the petition asks

Stop the changes proposed to the Gender Recognition Act (2004) by Equality Minister Elizabeth Truss. These changes would prohibit teenage transgender people being able to transition, and would make an already arduous process extremely difficult for hundreds of thousands of people.
If the issue were to be debated in Parliament, it would show the country’s disgust at the removal of integral human rights for transgender people, and signal the next course of action for Rt Hon Truss: rescind the changes, and work to protect marginalised communities instead of further ostracising them. The Gender Recognition Act should only be expanded to grant transgender people more freedoms that cisgender people take for granted everyday: the ability to fully express themselves, to live.
