To set up a public enquiry looking at the failures in protecting care home residents from infection due to the Covid 19 pandemic to examine the decision making of the government and other public health bodies, how care homes responded to the pandemic,
The aim of the public enquiry is to clearly identify what has happened, why and how, and to come to clear conclusions and recommendations so as to ensure that lessons are learnt in order to protect and safeguard care home residents and provide answers to families of care home residents especially to those families who have lost a loved one in a care home during the pandemic.
