We are want the UK government to support legislation for climate refugees.

What the petition asks

Globally, there is no officially recognised definition and/or legal protection for climate refugees. This is a global problem and the UK is no exception. We want the UK government to develop and deliver climate-policy for the protection of environmental migrants and climate refugees.
According to the UN Human Rights Council, there are currently as many as 70.8 million forcibly displaced people globally. But, despite growing levels of forcible displacement and environmental migration, climate refugees do not receive any legal protection. This is not a 'faraway' problem and we will increasingly see displacement both within the UK and displacement to the UK. Climate change is a human rights issue and the UK government must recognise this to achieve equitable futures for all.

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. We understand you want legislation relating to climate migrants, but we're not sure what you'd like that legislation to do.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
