Ban Conversion Therapy in Relation to Gender Identity

Rejected 13 signatures

What the petition asks

In the 2018 LGBT Action Plan, the Conservative Government made a promise to legislate against Conversion Therapy in relation to both Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity. However, recent statements by the Government appear to have dropped this commitment in relation to Gender Identity.
NHS England already hold a firm stance on this issue and in 2017 they signed a Memorandum of Understanding that stated Conversion Therapy for both Gender Identity and Sexual Orientation is Unethical, Damaging and Without Evidence.

We call upon the Equality Minister, Liz Truss to uphold this promise and ban Conversion Therapy in relation to both Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity. We will not allow the Conservative Government to renege on this promise in relation to Trans Communities.
