Keep Main Roads Open Permanently
Rejected

What the petition asks
Don’t allow funding to Authorities that close roads permanently without a really good reason, this causes more congestion as more forced down one road instead of various which eases traffic, this will damage the economy locally if people find it differ to go in to town centres and city centres.
Prevent unnecessary Permanent Road closures across the the U.K. and help keep the economy alive, also traffic flowing more freely prevents higher pollution and stop narrow minded authorities doing a quick cash grab on the Covid money been given by closing Roads. If we’re caring for environmental protection we keep roads open to make the traffic move on more quickly than be bottle necked queueing, look at towns with bad road management and their economic problems, the cycle incentives never work
Why it was rejected
It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. If you are concerned about specific road closures you could raise your issue with a local councillor who represents you. You can use this page to find out who your local councillors are, and how to contact them:

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do. For example, we could accept a petition calling for the Government to suspend funding for improving cycle lanes if they reduce car capacity, if that is something you would like to see happen.
