What the petition asks
We would like the UK government to work with other countries and international bodies in brokering a resolution of the current conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
To ensure the immediate withdrawal of Armenian troops from Nagorno-Karabakh and ensuring the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.
To ensure the immediate withdrawal of Armenian troops from Nagorno-Karabakh and ensuring the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.
As the UK is a major investor and beneficiary of the natural resources of Azerbaijan and an influential member in global politics, it has the ability to highlight the current dangerous escalation of violence and military action in the region.
This is significant as this could end with serious destabilisation in the region; it will cost lives and potentially end with both countries losing control of the current COVID-19 pandemic which could conclude with catastrophic consequences.
