Start a Social Housing Build

Rejected 17 signatures

What the petition asks

The country needs this now more than ever but they need the powers to do so. This pandemic has shown that the current housing crisis policy of Private Rented Sector is a false economy. Affordable housing developments promote diversity, reduces overcrowding & creates communities.
Social housing gives people a home. It’s cheaper to rent than privately rented housing. We have seen the devastation of poor quality housing during this pandemic the impact this has had will be felt for years to come. This country and its people need this to happen. This is a necessity now. Good quality affordable housing we know, is much more than just having a roof over your head. The most important thing affordable housing provides is hope and the possibility of a better life.

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. Social housing is a matter for local councils, Since you started your petition, the Government announced new funding for councils to build social housing:

You could start a new petition setting out what else you would like the Government to do.
