Extend an offer of refuge and a path to citizenship to US refugees.

What the petition asks
Make the same offer of refuge and a path to citizenship that was recently offered to Hong Kong residents.
The UK government recently offered refuge to people fleeing state repression in Hong Kong. In light of the terrifying increase in state repression and their increasing levels of brutality against their own citizens, we have a moral duty to do the same for those fleeing the US.
Why it was rejected
It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.
Under international law, it is already legal for a person to apply for asylum in any country that has signed the 1951 Geneva Convention and to remain there until the authorities have assessed their claim. We're not sure what else you'd like the UK Government and Parliament to do.

British nationals (overseas) have a specific status due to the unique history between Hong Kong, China and the UK.
