Expand the legal requirements to highlight allergens in all products

What the petition asks
I am calling for the UK government to make it legislation for all manufacturers to clearly highlight all allergens in their products.
Currently, allergens are only legally required to be highlighted in food products. When many household items contain allergens, why must we stop at food items?

Contact with allergies can often trigger contact dermatitis. Skin can often become blistered, inflamed and irritated, which can sometimes cause severe pain to the sufferer, and can affect quality of life. This could easily be avoided if allergens were clearly listed on products.
Many food allergens are also in common household items.
According to Alexandra Richmond at Mintel (2010,) approximately 44% of adults suffer from at least 1 allergy- so why isn't labelling more clear?

Why it was rejected
It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.
Current legislation requires allergen information to be provided on a range of products, including food and cosmetic products. It is not clear exactly how you want the Government to change these rules.
If you want these requirements to be expanded, you could start a petition about this but would need to be clear exactly how you want the current rules to be changed.
