What the petition asks
Review how the sickness is used an applied to NHS staff suffering from long term, chronic conditions, such as mental health conditions.
It seems highly unfair at how many staff members within the NHS, get penalised for being off work sick because of a long term, chronic health condition, such as depression and anxiety, asthma, neurological concerns and how it is completely out of sync with times now. The current sickness policy only seems to work for intermittent sickness, but even then doesn't always work, and people seem to be able to get away with no disciplinary action.
Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for the issue you raise. This is an operational decision for the NHS - staff terms and conditions aren't set by the UK Government or Parliament.
