Black Cab prices to be reduced by the Hackney Carriage Office
Rejected
21 signatures
What the petition asks
Black Cab drivers are currently unable to compete with other companies such as Uber and Bolt, as the Hackney Carriage office has not reduced the meter prices. This is an unfair process as people will automatically use the cheaper option, rather than the safer option.
I would like the government to review the prices and bring them down by 25-35% in order that Black Cabs have fairer pricing for people to use. Black Cabs are also the perfect socially distanced vehicle as they already have a partition in place.
Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
Maximum fares that can be charged by a Hackney Carriage can be set by individual local authorities, but not the Government or House of Commons.
If you want your local authority to reduce the maximum charges for Hackney Carriages in your area, you could petition your local authority about this.
