Make LGBTQIA+ history and sex education part of school curriculum in the UK

Rejected 16 signatures

What the petition asks

Ensure that teachers receive vital LGBTQIA+ training and break the stigma by making both history and sex education more inclusive
A previous petition was rejected as it called for LGBTQIA+ and BAME history to be taught, and a petition is already in place for BAME history. This petition is focused on LGBTQIA+ in particular as it is so important the government make changes to the way children are taught about sexuality in schools.

Why it was rejected

There was already a petition about this issue. Duplicates are rejected so signatures collect in one place.

You may wish to sign this petition calling for the same action: Include LGBT+ history and LGBT+ history month in National Curriculum

From September the new curriculum for relationships education, relationships and sex education (RSE) and health education will be compulsory, and this includes a requirement to ensure that the needs of all pupils are appropriately met, which includes teaching LGBT content: https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/805781/Relationships_Education__Relationships_and_Sex_Education__RSE__and_Health_Education.pdf
