Make it illegal for PM to enoble their relatives

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

Outlaw nepotism
Boris Johnson making his Brother a lord is clearly dubious

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

There is an independent process for considering nominations for awards and honours, and advising the Queen on granting these, so ithis is not something the Government or House of Commons are responsible for.

If you wish to give feedback on the House of Lords nomination process you could contact the House of Lords Appointment Commission:

This website gives further information on the House of Lords nomination process: https://www.parliament.uk/business/lords/whos-in-the-house-of-lords/members-and-their-roles/how-members-are-appointed/

You could start a new petition calling for the Government to restrict who can be made a peer, which include preventing family members of the current Prime Minister from being made peers, if that is what you want to happen.
