Petition · past parliament

Publicly release details and suspend Tory MP being investigated for rape.

Rejected 10 signatures

What the petition asks

The Conservative Party must withdraw the whip from the accused MP alongside publicly naming them.
The electorate deserves to know that their lawmakers are law abiding citizens themselves. The Conservatives can and should set a precedent for all rape and sexual assault investigations to be taken seriously within the party and amongst the wider political landscape.
As the self proclaimed party of “Law and Order” you have a basic level of responsibility to practice what they preach.

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

We can only accept petitions about things the Government or House of Commons is responsible for.

Withdrawing the party whip would be a matter for the Conservative Party, and deciding whether to name an individual charged with a crime is a matter for the police and Crown Prosecution Service.
