What the petition asks

To provide clarity on essential travel and support passengers rights regarding the refund of purchased of flights that are no longer fit for purpose under the government decision regarding travelling to Spain.

Following a decision to ban travel to Sapin unless for essential travel (which is not defined) passengers are forced to risk travelling with void insurance and quarantine or abandoned travel plans without any form of compensation to cover costs of flights.
Many people save all year for holidays and flights. The government's half thought out decsion has left people vulnerable to Airlines exploiting their options regarding changes to travel plans.
People are no forced to pay an excess of £75 per person for flight changes alone.
Many of these people who are key workers have not benefited from any furlough or support, many were hoping to visit family who live abroad and may now be forced to abadon plans not only this year but next due to being unable to afford fees to change.
