What the petition asks
We want statutory rates of pay and allowances for HGV drivers that ensure:
- After 40 hours work a driver should be earning time and a half
- Night out allowance should be raised to £45 minimum
- Drivers who complete a 10-hour shift should get a £10 meal allowance, raised to £15 if nighting out

Many HGV drivers work long hours sometimes with little rest between shifts and working weeks, and also face the costs of having to pay premium prices for roadside food and drink.
HGV drivers perform an essential service, and the Government should recognise this by introducing statutory rates of pay and allowances, so that HGV drivers are reimbursed for their work and expenses appropriately.
