Amend the Recall of MPs Act 2015 to allow communities sole power to recall MPs

Closed 179 signatures

What the petition asks

The current legislation gives an MP a guaranteed job for a parliamentary term regardless of whether he acts in his constituents' best interests or keeps to the promises under which he was elected.

This is undemocratic.
Time and again "honorable members" are picked up for "misrepresenting facts" what in the real world is called "lying". Often MPs go against the principles on which they were elected. Only by allowing the people to hold MPs to account can we be sure that our MPs work for US.

The power to appoint MPs is in the hands of the electorate. The power to recall MP's, for whatever reason the community sees fit, should be solely in the hands of the electorate.
