Introduce Drug Consumption Rooms to prevent drug-related deaths in the UK

Closed 410 signatures

What the petition asks

Legalise and fund Drug Consumption Rooms (a.k.a. Overdose Prevention Centres) to provide drug testing, clean needles, naloxone, supervision, and advice to injecting users. Such harm reducing measures are crucial to reducing the UK’s shocking drug-induced mortality rate, which may rise in a recession
The zero tolerance approach to drugs has caused a health crisis, with Scotland individually suffering Europe’s highest drug-related death rate. DCRs prevent disease transmission, reduce needles on streets and there has not been a death in one worldwide. Evidence does not suggest they encourage drug use as is often feared. Yet despite an ACMD recommendation, Government refuses to even consider them. Such neglect damages thousands of lives and communities. The Government must act on the evidence
