What the petition asks
Abolish the Construction Industry Training Board Levy and associated levy
The Government should scrap the CITB and the levy it imposes and let the Construction Industry pay for training directly, and not also have to pay a levy.
The Government should scrap the CITB and the levy it imposes and let the Construction Industry pay for training directly, and not also have to pay a levy.
CITB imposes a statutory levy on Construction companies for training, there is no other industry to which this model applies.
This means companies pay the levy and also pay for training and receive little to nothing in the way of grants. The Government should scrap the CITB and the levy it imposes so construction companies only have to pay directly for training, and not also pay a levy which may not benefit them.
Although the levy is meant to apply to all employers engaged wholly or mainly in construction industry activities, some companies avoid paying it, putting those that do at a disadvantage.
