Students sitting exams in 2021 face a triple whammy:
a) They had unequal access to education during 2020, creating even greater inequality
b) They will be applying for places based on examination results, against those who did not run that gauntlet, face that pressure, triumph over the foibles of exam periods.
c) Some of next year’s places have already been guaranteed to those who missed out this year because of the handling at a national level so there are fewer places to compete for.
