Require shops to have their lights switched off after closing

What the petition asks
Many establishments still have lights or screens switched on after closing every day. This wastes electricity and causes more fossil fuels to be burned, which contributes to global warming. If the government were to force shops to switch off electronics overnight, this could be prevented.
The continued use of electricity causes more fossil fuels to be burned—these produce greenhouse gases, which contribute to global warming. This causes climate change, which, if not acted on before 2030 (according to the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change in 2018), will become irreversible, bringing about the end of life on Earth. This rule (above) would lead to a smaller amount of fossil fuels being burned, lessening the country’s carbon footprint and helping to prevent climate change.
