Make 16-19 Years ‘Compulsory’ College and Sixth Form Education Bus Passes Free

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

Government Legislation states ‘ We are striving for world class education, training and care for everyone whatever their background’.This will create a more productive economy, fit for the future and ensure that everyone has a chance to reach their potential to live a more fulfilled life’.
Each local authority should be offering free transport to enable the above aims to be reached in an inclusive way, ensuring there is equality in relation to the provision offered. The government require young people to stay in education until age 18, and therefore should be providing free access to it, fundamentally including the transport to get there! Most parents cannot afford this huge expense, directly impacting on their chikd’s life chances. This should not be a local authority decision.
