Change the custody laws for domestic violence cases.
Rejected
10 signatures
What the petition asks
To change the law for domestic violence cases, so that the perpetrators are held in custody until the final sentencing.
Because of the number of cases where the perpetrators continue to interfere and intimidate the victims to try to make them drop the charges. Also because they aren't provided with police protection while waiting for the court date, they are repeatedly attacked or their life is threatened by the perpetrators.
Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for the issue you raise. Decisions on bail are taken by the courts, and not decided upon for specific charges.
