Add a second “P” to LGBTQ+ standing for polyamorous.

Rejected 12 signatures

What the petition asks

We wish to add a second P to LGBTQ+, standing for polyamorous. At the moment, polyamory is not recognised as such. This means that many people in polyamorous could be discriminated against within LGBTQ+ society. It also means polyamorous people are not protected by the 2010 equality act.
We want the government as well as LGBTQ+ rights organisations to recognise polyamory as a kind of gender/sexual identification. This would mean that polyamorous people may not be discriminated against by the LGBTQ+ society and turned away from pride gatherings, but that they will also not be discriminated against by the general public.

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for the issue you raise. The Government aren't responsible for specific terms and language used, or for organisations to recognise them.

You could start a petition calling for polyamory to be a protected characteristic in the Equality Act, to make it illegal to discriminate against polyamorous people.
