What the petition asks

After hearing about "The Eternal Wall of Prayer" project being built in a protected green belt, I think religious belief should not be a valid excuse in a secular country to build on an otherwise restricted area

Green belts exist to preserve areas and prevent urban sprawl. Building this blatant tourist attraction is bound to create exactly a sprawl, as people move to provide facilities to visitors of the Wall. Religious belief and the wall being "A vision from God" should not be accepted as a valid reason to build on protected land, especially when other more useful buildings could be provided instead, and when not even locals are allowed to build.

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

It is possible to get planning permission for building on Green Belt land, and this is the case whether a project is religious in nature or not.
