What the petition asks
1. Close schools (where there is sovereignty to do so) until the 'second wave' is over;
2. Ensure that, when schools reopen, masks are worn and social distancing is recommended where possible;
3. Note with concern the sharp uptick in schools with COVID cases since 1/09/2020.

As of the 18th September 2020, 1230 UK schools now have confirmed Coronavirus infections. This is incredibly concerning not only as it is representative of a rise in national cases, but also as it threatens the health and lives of pupils and their families.
If we are to do everything that is feasibly possible to reduce the impact of COVID-19 upon the nation, then we must close schools to curb the size of the second wave.
I urge the Government to act as soon as is feasibly possible.
