What the petition asks
Prohibit District Councils from applying for planning permission from themselves via shell / trading arm companies masquerading as independent businesses but which are wholly-or-partly-owned companies of the District Council who are also in charge of the Local Planning Authority.
Planning Authority decisions must be completely independent of the applicant. District Councils running Trading Arms (wholly-or-partially-owned) who apply for planning permission present the planning team with a serious conflict of interest and their ability to remain truly independent must be questioned.
District Councils should not be allowed to own or have interests in development oriented businesses.
