Protect local banks from closure and re-open them during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Rejected 17 signatures

What the petition asks

Support local branches by preventing banking companies from closing their branches and making staff redundant during the pandemic, unless absolutely necessary. Ideally offer incentives for banks to re-open their branches and re-hire trained staff to avoid use of touch screens and limit queues.
Local branch closures and loss of staff is causing stress and concern for vulnerable members of this country. Online banking cannot achieve all banking needs and people are being forced to queue outside large banks, and use touch screens due to loss of staff.
In the winter, standing outside banks in busy streets will lower the immune system increase susceptibility for contracting the virus. Further, using touch screens will make it more likely for the vulnerable to catch COVID and become ill.

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for the issue you raise. The location and closure of branches is a matter for banks, not the UK Government or Parliament.
