Petition · past parliament

Change the PM's salary to minimum wage.

Rejected 13 signatures

What the petition asks

Allow the Prime Minister to experience how some of the poorest people in their country live.
I think if the leader of the country is living on the breadline, their insight on many an issue would drastically change. It would also root out those that just want to be PM for the position, rather than the opportunity to make a difference.

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

The UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for setting the Prime Minister's pay. The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) is responsible for deciding on MPs' expenses and pay. IPSA is independent of both Parliament and Government.
