What the petition asks

Fines should not be imposed on parents that are worried about elderly relatives over 70 years of age being potentially affected by Covid 19. if parents decide to keep children home until the second wave is over, there should be no penalty and the child will remain registered with the school.

Many extended families have elderly relatives living them. Although children are not affected by coronavirus, according to statistics the elderly have been affected by the Pandemic the most. The highest rate of deaths has been of the elderly. Sending children to school puts these vulnerable individuals at a high risk and possible death. Families are distressed because they are being told their children need to go to school without their personal circumstances being considered.

Why it was rejected

There was already a petition about this issue. Duplicates are rejected so signatures collect in one place.
