Make the Parliaments’ bars close at 10pm with the rest of the country.

Rejected 12 signatures

What the petition asks

The government have ordered the country’s bars and restaurants to close at 10pm but are still able to drink on the Parliamentary Estate due to a loophole that the bars are providing canteen facilities. This is as close to “one rule for us and another for them” as it’s possible to get.
To be fair to the country and lead by example.

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Since you started your petition it has been announced that alcohol will not be sold after 10pm anywhere on the parliamentary estate. In line with the Government’s guidance on workplaces, catering facilities will remain open later (but no selling of alcohol) when the House is sitting, to serve food for those still working and to support social distancing.
