Challenge MP’s to live on current average furlough pay
Rejected
12 signatures
What the petition asks
See the need for furlough to continue and the consequences to the public of this being removed on the ability to pay bills and live
The replacement for furlough does not work for industries that are hampered by travel restrictions, operating hours for hospitality and such like
Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
This is a matter for individual MPs, not the UK Government or Parliament. Further, the setting of MP's pay is the responsibility of the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) which is independent of both Government and Parliament. You can find out more about IPSA here: https://www.theipsa.org.uk/.
