Ban wood burning stoves and all solid fuel burning in homes that are on the grid

What the petition asks
According to DEFRA domestic wood burning is the largest single source of PM2.5 in UK. PM pollution is known to exacerbate respiratory conditions including Asthma and COVID for the user and for neighbours. PM and wood smoke pollution can ingress into neighbours’ homes even with windows closed.
When referring to the effect of PM pollution on health the WHO state "thresholds below which adverse effects do not occur have not been identified". Woodsmoke like tobacco smoke contains compounds that are carcinogenic. Whilst smoking is banned in some public places, woodsmoke pollution continues where people live, sleep, work, go to school and spend their recreational time. Banning woodburning in homes on the grid is a quick low-cost solution to cleaner, healthier air for everyone.
