What the petition asks
Cuts to teacher training bursaries will impact the teaching profession drastically, and the current generation of children who have already been negatively impacted due to COVID-19. Arts and humanities have been cut, including English, while sciences are drastically unequal in funding.
Bursaries are a key to ensuring teachers can afford train to teach, especially when they have other commitments such as childcare/a mortgage. These bursaries have been drastically cut in many subjects for the 2021 cohort of applicants. Arts and humanities have a complete lack of bursary, while sciences have unequal bursaries, yet many teachers will be expected to teach the same three subjects. This needs to change to prevent further loss of teachers and children's education.
