Free the North – hold a referendum for a devolved 'North of England Parliament'

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

Government should support fair and democratic representation by holding a referendum in the North of England for full devolution.

A ‘North of England Parliament’ is the only way to truly represent the best interests of the people of the North of England.
I call on the Government to hold a referendum for full devolution to the North of England. This would take place on the same day, in all of the constituencies of the following official regions of England:
- North East England
- North West England
- Yorkshire and the Humber

Following a successful referendum, a ‘North of England Parliament’ would have powers over the following areas:
- Health
- Education
- Economic Development
- Transport
- The Environment
- Agriculture
- Local Government
- Taxes
